Trump says Jared Kushner's security clearance is up to his chief of staff

WASHINGTON — White House chief of staff John Kelly will make the final determination about a security clearance for White House senior adviser and presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner, President Trump said Friday.

"General Kelly respects Jared a lot," Trump said. "I won't make that call."

Friday is the deadline for top White House aides to secure a permanent security clearance or else risk losing access to classified information, under a policy Kelly adopted last week.
